Please print out the application, fill it out and sign it. You can mail it via the US Postal Service to our Santa Barbara office (UPTE, 900 Embarcadero del Mar, Suite D, Isla Vista, CA 93117) or contact Rodney Orr. He'll be glad to pick up your application and will be pleased to meet you.

Please let us clear up a couple points that have been confusing:

Even though your pay stub may show a "fair share" contribution to UPTE when you are in a unit covered by an UPTE contract, you are not a member of UPTE unless you have filled out and sent in a member application. Being a member entitles you to participate fully in your union, including voting in elections and for contract ratifications.

If you are a "99," which is a job classification that currently is not covered by UPTE, you still may join UPTE. Quite a number of 99s are already members, attend weekly meetings, hold offices, go to conventions, etc. They are already working from the inside to bring their job classification within UPTE's coverage. We greatly appreciate these 99s! They have helped empower UPTE -- to everyone's benefit. This year, we will be working hard to become represented by UPTE.
